Save Tacoma Water runs an ad each week in the Tacoma Weekly. The ads give a snapshot of what Save Tacoma Water volunteers are up to. We are activists, we are out in our community, not just typing on a keyboard. Below each ad is a link to a pdf version of the ad for people who would like to down load a hi res file. A good ad to download is the one with the list of elected officials that sued the citizens for wanting to vote on the Water Protection Petitions. STW is on a mission for the 2017 ballot to find and help candidates who will run against politicians who think it is just fine to sue the citizens. One of the most powerful politicians in America sued his constituents in 1992 and in 1994 the voters in Spokane voted out of office, then Speaker of the House, Tom Foley – a 30 year incumbent. Foley underestimated the voters and never held another elected position in his life. We hope this same fate meets the 14 politicians that sued STW. Think about it, there is no better time to run for office as four of the five seats on the Tacoma City Council are open thanks to term limits. The three out of five port commissioners running would not be allowed to run again if the port commissions had term limits. As an example, Port Commissioner Connie Bacon has been there since 1995. Yikes, sure hope that motivates someone to run against her in 2017. Any candidate running against Bacon could run on the two most popular citizen issues of all time – term limits and please don’t sue me. Think about it. We have Water Warriors ready to volunteer.
